My Background
or “how
I rule the world for fun & profit.”
I
am an old school graphic artist who was trained with the idea that any
artist worth his salt has a working knowledge of every aspect of his
craft. From concept to production he can do any job as well as the next.
Talent that isn't tempered by technique, though burns bright, will burn
out. But technique without inspiration means you're just going through
the motions. It a balance that everyone needs to work out for them selves.
I could go on, but you can learn a lot more about a man
by the sayings he
lives by, so here are my top five:
1. “Any problem you have, can be helped with Coffee & Pastry.”
2. “There is always a third choice.”
3. “Everything is as simple as its own nature. No more, no
less”
4. “Never be afraid to ask stupid questions, it’s the
only way you are going to find out the answers to them.”
5. “A wise man knows everything, a shrewd man knows everyone.”

My Methodology
Just because you
have the tools, doesn't mean that you need to use them. Sometimes it
is harder to use discretion and subtlety over
bold and brass.
Simplicity of design will give you a product that can be understood
as well as the box it came in.
A user sees the product as the means to their ends, and there lies
rule 1. If a user can’t or won’t use the product
then no matter how brilliant the design is in the end, it has failed.
But if the functionality
can’t be understood then the interaction of the product has
failed too.
I work with a third option, that design and functionality are one
in the same thing. You need both to create the end product that users
will use.
That there is a perfect design solution for any project that makes
the product as simple as it’s own nature with out compromising
any of its functionality. |
